A major change has been made in the arms license renewal system.
Citizens are now required to renew arms licenses after every five years on the same issue or renewal date. This is a change that is brought about by the federal government. Until now, all licenses have expired on December 31 annually, irrespective of the date of issue. NADRA’s spokesperson elaborates on the update.
This reform is guided by the Ministry of Interior so that people can be at ease. The duration of the licenses is five years since the time of issuance or renewal. Consequently, individuals have the full time without premature expiry. In the previous system, holders wasted time in a year.
The hassles were due to renewals concentrated at the end of each year. This big problem is now corrected through complete digitization. Citizens will not have to renew in a hurry and will enjoy the full benefits. Moreover, this change simplifies the procedure. The new system of NADRA does all this online. The license holders merely follow the five-year cycle of their own.
There will be no general deadline in December, which will lead to less stress and congestion. In general, the change enhances convenience and efficiency. It is a manifestation of attempts by the government to streamline the services. Compliance is easier among arms owners in Pakistan. It is also a step towards improved record-keeping using digital tools.
Law enforcement anticipates fewer traffic jams and enhanced security. Remember to renew through NADRA portals. The everyday citizens wading through paperwork in the government have a victory with this reform.
