The Rawalpindi district administration has reopened Pir Wadhai Adda and restored all related transport services, days after the bus terminal was kept shut despite the wider reopening of the city’s transport network.
The decision offers full relaxation to people after previous partial bans. Commuters now have easy access to all bus stands and routes. Earlier, on April 25, district authorities opened all the entry and exit points for private, government and goods vehicles. But they temporarily banned Pir Wadhai Adda.
Authorities lift that ban now, marking a key step forward. On the other hand, Islamabad has already opened all bus stops, except Faizabad, and Rawalpindi has activated most of its routes. The move comes after a halt to public and goods transport on April 19. The district governments in Islamabad and Rawalpindi have suspended services without providing reasons and called on people to obey security forces.
Restrictions ease gradually since then, boosting daily mobility. Furthermore, Islamabad unlocks public spots like Margalla hiking trails, Daman Koh, and Lake View Park. Citizens enjoy these spots again after weeks of lockdown. Hence, life returns to normal in the twin cities.
However, the federal government imposes austerity measures with new timings. Bazaars and malls close at 8 pm. Food, tandoor, wedding and marquee halls, sports, clubs and gyms operate until 10 pm. Pharmacies, hospitals, petrol and dairy stores are open 24 hours without restrictions. The relaxed norms are welcomed, travel and outings planned. Government urges adhering to timelines. Life returns to normal, with hope after adaptations.
