The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has invited budget proposals from key stakeholders, including the IT industry, telecom sector, mobile phone manufacturers, and fiber-optic companies, in preparation for the 2025-26 federal budget.
The deadline for submitting proposals to the government is March 10. These proposals will focus on policies and incentives to strengthen digital infrastructure, boost local manufacturing, and enhance IT exports. The government aims to tackle industry challenges, including high taxation, regulatory barriers, and investment limitations.
Industry leaders have been encouraged to submit detailed recommendations covering broadband expansion, data centers, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and digital payments. The telecom sector is expected to push for tax reductions on mobile devices and network equipment, while the IT industry seeks incentives for software exports and freelancer support.
Once submitted, the Ministry of IT and Telecom (MoITT) and other relevant government departments will review the proposals before finalizing the budget framework. The government will hold consultations with stakeholders to ensure that the budget supports industry growth and economic development.
