Govt to provide Rs3000 per month for children in Sindh

Under the Sindh Social Protection Program, the government has decided to provide a monthly stipend of Rs3000 to children from birth to five years of age, with a primary focus on rural areas.

These initiatives expand safety nets, boost maternal and child health, and support poor rural women facing tough times. The board greenlit an early childhood development programme for 885000 children aged 0-5 years. Caregivers will receive Rs3000 every three months for growth checks, nutrition advice, and school preparation.

The German bank KfW funds this Rs14 billion project to break poverty cycles and build strong futures. Leaders also launched cash help for women farm workers during lean seasons of two to four months yearly.

This aid helps them manage income gaps, cut debt, and ensure family meals when farm work slows down. The meeting upgraded the Mamta maternal health program, now active in 22 districts with Rs56 billion budget serving over one million mothers. A new hybrid predictable payment model guarantees fixed cash payments on schedule, even if health visits run slightly late.

Mothers get full amounts for pregnancy or youngest child, plus 75 percent for older kids under two, leaving no child behind. To grow Mamta’s reach, the board approved a Gates Foundation study for urban expansion in Karachi and Hyderabad. They also added Health Department facilities in seven new districts as central support points.

Chief Minister Shah stressed building reliable aid systems. He said these steps protect vulnerable women and children while investing in Sindh’s human capital. Stronger families mean healthier communities and lasting progress. The board formed audit, HR, legal, and research committees for better oversight. They also approved Rs 2.29 billion budget for 2026-27. These moves show Sindh’s commitment to predictable support that lifts the poorest while strengthening long-term development.
