Heart disease continues to top global death causes

Heart disease strikes hearts with attacks, irregular beats, or organ damage.

Experts have previously believed that it only affected the elderly. But now there are a lot of cases among young people. Risks are increased by high blood pressure, cholesterol and smoking. Consequently, a new research identifies excessive protein as an unseen threat. Protein makes muscle and suppresses hunger, excess of which is unhealthy.

Scientists reported results in Nature Metabolism. They associated high protein with heart ills. One of the essential amino acids, leucine, causes trouble. It initiates a mechanism in which the immune cells seize amino acids. The accumulation of fats in turn blocks arteries. The high-protein diets were shown to increase this risk in experiments done on mice.

Moreover, humans who consume 22 percent of calories in protein form stronger immune reactions, which are linked to the presence of the plaque. Proteins of animals, such as beef and chicken, are more concentrated in leucine. To illustrate this, they should be overdone to magnify risks. Plant sources are less harmful.

Consequently, specialists encourage health diets. Trim down on protein to save the hearts particularly among the young population. Going forward, the effects will be elucidated by long-term studies. The news changes the perceptions about protein trends. Fitness enthusiasts re-evaluate high-intake strategies. Basic swaps are beneficial to the heart with the increasing number of cases.
