President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr Masoud Pezeshkian, will pay a state visit to Pakistan on 2–3 August 2025, at the invitation of the prime minister of Pakistan, said Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson on Friday.
He will lead a high-level delegation that includes Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, senior ministers, and top officials. During his visit, Dr Pezeshkian will hold meetings with Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Both sides will hold delegation-level talks to discuss bilateral relations and regional matters of mutual interest.
The visit aims to further improve the brotherly ties between Pakistan and Iran, focusing on trade, border security, energy cooperation, and people-to-people contact. This marks the first visit of Dr Pezeshkian to Pakistan after becoming Iran’s president. Earlier, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi had visited Pakistan from April 22 to 24, 2024. He met Pakistan’s civil and military leaders during his trip. Sadly, Raisi lost his life in a helicopter crash later in Iran.
Originally, President Pezeshkian was expected to land in Pakistan on July 26, but the trip was postponed to August 2. No official reason has been shared by the foreign ministries of both countries regarding the delay. Sources also said that the Iranian President may visit Lahore and Karachi in addition to the capital, Islamabad, during his stay.
