Islamabad has successfully implemented the e-stamping system to completely eliminate forgery of stamp papers.
The federal capital’s district administration reported that the Federal Treasury has stopped issuing traditional stamp papers. However, previously issued papers remain valid until their expiry date. The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad stated that the e-stamping project has generated 585 challans so far. He explained that the system has not only improved transparency but also allows the government to maintain complete digital records of all stamp paper transactions.
Citizens can now verify their e-stamps easily through the Citizen Portal. This feature is expected to significantly reduce the risk of forgery and ensure that all stamp papers in circulation are authentic. According to the administration, the e-stamping system enhances convenience for the public while promoting transparency and trust in government services. It provides a secure, fast, and reliable platform for transactions that require stamp papers.
Officials highlighted that the new system aligns with the government’s broader goal of digitizing public services and improving accountability. They also encouraged citizens and businesses to adopt e-stamping for all legal and financial documents to benefit from its security and efficiency.
With the e-stamping system now fully operational, Islamabad sets an example for other regions to follow, demonstrating how digital solutions can strengthen governance and protect citizens from fraud. The administration plans to continue monitoring the system to ensure its smooth operation and to further expand its reach to more services in the future.
