The aircraft carrier Cavour and the frigate Alpino, forming the Italian Navy Carrier Strike Group, arrived in Karachi on Monday and will remain stay there until Wednesday.
According to the Pakistan Navy, the Italian Navy ships were cordially received by senior Pakistan Navy officers and the Italian ambassador upon their arrival in Karachi.
Later, Rear Admiral Abdul Munib, Commander of the Pakistan Fleet, had a visit from an Italian team headed by Marilina Armellin, Italy’s Ambassador, and Rear Admiral Stefano BARBIERI, Capability Director of the Italian Defence General Staff.
Mutually beneficial topics such as interoperability, future cooperation opportunities to improve regional marine security, and defense cooperation were covered at the conference.
Commanding Officer Captain Francesco FAGNANI briefed Commander Karachi, Vice Admiral Muhammad Faisal Abbasi, about the capabilities of the Aircraft Carrier during his visit to ITS CAVOUR.
An exhibition of military industry capabilities was also presented on board ITS ALPINO, showcasing the capabilities of Italian defense companies.
A thorough briefing for Pakistani media was also hosted by ITS CAVOUR.
The Commander of the Carrier Strike Group, the Italian Ambassador, and the Capability Director of the Italian Defence General Staff all praised the Pakistan Navy’s contribution to regional maritime security at the press briefing and emphasized the significance of mutual navies’ interoperability.
