Karachi bans entry of dumpers and heavy traffic

The Sindh government has imposed a ban on entry of the heavy traffic, dumpers into Karachi during daytime.

According to an official notification, heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter the city from 6 am to 10 pm. This restriction will remain in effect for the next two months. The decision aims to ease traffic flow on major roads, especially during peak hours when commuter movement remains high. As a result, authorities expect smoother traffic management and reduced pressure on urban road networks.

However, to ensure that industrial and commercial activities continue without disruption, specific alternative routes have been designated for heavy traffic. Accordingly, heavy vehicles heading toward the New Karachi Industrial Area will be permitted to use the Superhighway. This route will serve as the primary corridor for freight transport to the industrial zone.

Similarly, heavy traffic will be allowed to move from the National Highway toward Godam Chowrangi, Younis Chowrangi, and Dawood Chowrangi, and then proceed to Jam Sadiq Bridge. In addition, vehicles coming from the Northern Bypass can travel toward Paracha Chowk and Siemens Chowrangi.

Furthermore, authorities have allowed heavy vehicles to use the Northern Bypass route to Gulbai, as well as the Maripur Road leading to Karachi Port. Likewise, transporters can use the Link Road connecting Kathor to the Sassi Toll Plaza to facilitate cargo movement.

Meanwhile, traffic police have been directed to strictly enforce the ban and guide drivers toward approved routes. Officials have also urged transporters and drivers to follow the new traffic plan to avoid penalties and delays.

Overall, the temporary restriction reflects the government’s effort to balance urban traffic control with economic activity. Authorities believe that cooperation from transporters and the public will help ensure smoother traffic conditions across the city during the two-month period.
