Karachi police catch dumper running illegally for 3 years

According to details, Karachi traffic police acted against a dumper truck that was operating without number plates, a tracking system, a driving licence, or even a national identity card.

The driver was taken into custody for violating traffic rules and operating the heavy vehicle outside the permitted hours. Soon after the arrest, the traffic police began the initial interrogation. However, the driver kept denying every basic question, including whether he had a CNIC, a tracker installed in the dumper or even a valid licence. As the questioning continued, he finally admitted that he had been driving dumpers for the past three years without meeting any legal requirement. This confession raised serious concerns about monitoring and enforcement of rules for heavy vehicles in Karachi.

Moreover, the police have started tracing the owner of the dumper. Officials said that once the owner is identified, a separate and heavy fine will be imposed for allowing an unlicensed and unregistered driver to operate such a vehicle. The investigation team is also checking whether the dumper had any previous violations or was part of any other traffic incidents.

Meanwhile, the crackdown on dumpers and water tankers has intensified. Earlier, DIG Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah announced a complete ban on these vehicles after the Razzaqabad accident, which caused serious damage and injuries. He stated that only vehicles that provide tracker access to the traffic police will be allowed to operate, and even then, only during the approved timings.

Furthermore, the DIG confirmed that several dumpers and water tankers may have trackers installed, but many owners have refused to grant police access, forcing authorities to take stricter action. As a result, any heavy vehicle found without a functional tracker or proper authorization will be seized during road inspections.
