KP Schools allow all-colored winter wear for kids

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) education department has introduced new winter guidelines permitting students across the province to wear sweaters and gloves of any color during the cold season.

With temperatures dropping across the province, the government wants students to stay warm without being limited to a single-color requirement that often created inconvenience for families. The change is also expected to reduce pressure on parents who previously had to purchase specific uniform colors during the winter season.

In this regard, the Directorate of Education has directed all schools and educational institutions to enforce the updated winter clothing policy immediately. The department stressed that schools should ensure students feel comfortable during harsh weather and should not face any restrictions that affect their wellbeing. As cold conditions continue to intensify, the updated policy is being viewed as a timely and practical step for students.

At the same time, another major development has taken place in Balochistan, where the provincial government has announced an extended winter vacation for schools in colder regions. According to the notification, classes will close on December 16 and will remain suspended for nearly two and a half months due to the severe winter expected this year. This long break aims to protect children from harsh temperatures, especially in areas where heating facilities are limited and weather conditions can become extreme.

Across both provinces, education authorities are focusing on student safety and comfort as winter sets in. The recent decisions reflect growing concern over declining temperatures and increasing cold waves. Parents have welcomed the measures, noting that flexible winter clothing and extended holidays will make it easier for children to cope with the harsh season.
