ISLAMABAD – The government has appointed Lieutenant General (retired) Muhammad Aamer as Pakistan’s new Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The former commander of Gujranwala Corps has been picked for this esteemed position, around eleven months after his retirement from service. He will replace Syed Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, who has now been reassigned as Pakistan’s ambassador to Belgium and European Union (EU).
The retired army officer started his career in Artillery Regiment of Pakistan Army and has served in various roled. Aamer gained considerable experience as the chief of Staff Duties at the Chief of Army Staff Secretariat, working in both General Headquarters (GHQ).
Lt Gen retd. Aamer’s career comprises roles in staff, instructional, and command positions. He also served as military secretary to President Asif Zardari. After his promotion to major-general, he commanded the 10 Infantry Division.
The three-star general took role of Adjutant General at Army General Headquarters. Before his retirement, Aamer was appointed as Corps Commander of XXX Corps in Gujranwala.
