MUZAFFARGARH: Police in Jatoi Tehsil of Muzaffargarh on Wednesday arrested a man on charges of animal torture.
According to details, the man is accused of amputating the legs of a donkey after the animal wandered into his field. The owner registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the man following which the local cops made the arrest.
The injured animal is reportedly under care of the livestock department.
This is the latest in an alarming display of sadistic brutality in Pakistan where people have been arrested on charges of animal torture. Many of these cases have been tied to land dispute.
Last month, an influential landlord is Rawalpindi amputated a female donkey’s ear for entering his farms in the area of Rawat. Reports at the time said the animal was pregnant.
Another landlord in Sindh’s Sanghar area had chopped off a leg of a female camel for wandering into his property. Police said they had arrested five people in connection with animal brutality.
