Customs officials seized more than twenty-six foreign phones, including the recently released iPhone 16 Pro Max, at Islamabad Airport.
According to sources, 30 iPhone 16 Pro Max smartphones were seized by customs officers stationed at the Islamabad airport, marking the first instance of the device being used against foreign travelers.
According to sources, the traveler was communicating with Customs officials and was a resident of Quetta. The other employees, however, stopped this attempt to smuggle phones.
With the recent release of the iPhone 16 Pro Max, Pakistani dealers are making significant profits by importing phones duty-free and reselling them on the local market.
The man is allegedly the subject of a formal complaint filed by customs officials. It omitted the identity of the official, though, who had communication with the traveler on the clearance of those phones.
At Islamabad Airport, phones were also taken by Customs officials a few days ago, but no formal complaint was filed. If commodities worth more than Rs5 million are seized, the Customs agency is required to file a formal complaint.
