Mianwali checkpost attack thwarted by Punjab Police

Punjab Police successfully thwarted a terrorist attack on the Kabul Khel police checkpoint in Mianwali on Sunday night.

A group of 12-14 militants, armed with rocket launchers and hand grenades, stormed the checkpoint in the dead of night, aiming to cause significant damage.

Despite the sudden assault, the officers on duty responded with intense gunfire, forcing the terrorists to retreat.

The attackers managed to escape under the cover of darkness, but their plans were foiled. During the exchange, two police officers sustained minor injuries, but thankfully, no lives were lost.

Search operation underway

Following the attack, a large-scale search operation has been launched to track down the fleeing terrorists. The Punjab Police are determined to bring these militants to justice, ensuring the safety and security of the region.

Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, praised the bravery and vigilance of the officers at the Kabul Khel checkpoint. He highlighted that this is the ninth terrorist attack on Punjab Police in recent months that has been successfully repelled.

The IGP reiterated the commitment of law enforcement agencies to stand as a strong barrier against militants at inter-provincial borders. He assured the public that the Punjab Police will continue to crush the enemy’s nefarious designs, maintaining peace and security across the province.
