Minister inaugurates first locally-made ventilators

Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal inaugurated Pakistan’s first locally-manufactured ventilators on Monday marking a significant milestone in the nation’s pursuit of technological independence.

This project is part of the Iran-Pakistan initiative which aims to promote domestic technology and innovation in the country. During the event, Minister Iqbal praised the company behind the ventilators, and highlighted the importance of similar initiatives for the country’s progress. He stressed the need for a new generation that combines ambition, hard work, and intelligence to drive the nation forward.

Iqbal acknowledged the negative global perception of Pakistan but pointed out the hardworking nature of the people. He also noted that certain forces have tarnished the country’s image. He called for collective efforts to reshape Pakistan’s future, especially as the country nears its 100th independence anniversary in 2047.

Iqbal emphasized the significance of innovation in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and emerging technologies. He pointed out that despite Pakistan’s smaller population compared to its neighbors, the country has the potential to surpass its competitors in technological advancement within the next two decades.

Drawing on examples from successful nations like Japan and South Korea, Iqbal stressed the need for consistent policies and long-term reforms. He set an ambitious target of increasing Pakistan’s exports from $30 billion to $100 billion in the next 8-9 years.

In conclusion, the minister emphasized that Pakistan’s future economic growth relies on innovation, industrialization, and an export-driven economy, urging the youth to embrace technology for global competitiveness.
