Rain and snowfall deepen winter chill in upper areas

The National Disaster Management Authority has issued a nationwide advisory warning of rain, thunderstorms and strong winds across northern and central regions in the coming days.

Weather authorities predict scattered rain across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan from April 12 to 17. Thunderstorms, dust storms, gusty winds, and hail may strike some spots. Islamabad braces for showers. Punjab cities like Murree, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Gujrat, Sialkot, Lahore, Mianwali, and Mandi Bahauddin expect rain too.

Sindh and Balochistan stay hot and dry. Daytime heat rises slowly. Karachi feels warm, but humid sea breezes keep extreme heat away. Mountains face mixed weather. High spots in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir see snow. Lower hills get rain.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa districts gear up. Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, and Haripur are ready for thunderstorms. Swabi, Charsadda, Mardan, Nowshera, Kohat, Karak, Bannu, and Dera Ismail Khan watch for strong winds and rain. NDMA issues warnings. Lightning, hail, and fierce gusts threaten weak buildings. Winds may topple trees and knock out power lines.

Wet roads slow traffic. Drivers face slips and jams. Hill rains raise landslide dangers in slopes. People stay safe with smart steps. Check official updates daily. Avoid open fields during storms. Secure loose items outside. Stay indoors if hail falls.

Farmers protect crops from sudden downpours. Livestock owners move animals to safe spots. Power teams fix outages fast. Travellers plan ahead. Flights and roads may delay. Hill trips carry extra risks now.

This wet spell breaks dry streaks. It aids dust-settled air but brings flood watches in low areas. Follow Met Office apps for live alerts. Safety first keeps everyone dry and sound.
