Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has established a 20-member committee to enhance government efficiency and tackle bureaucratic inefficiencies.
The committee’s primary objective is to foster improved inter-departmental collaboration and implement evidence-based policymaking to streamline government processes.
A key goal of the committee is to evaluate the performance of the Federal Secretariat, identify inefficiencies, and propose new governance practices to boost overall productivity. The committee will also explore introducing performance-based incentives for government employees to encourage better work and greater accountability.
To improve administrative systems, the committee plans to upgrade the existing e-office system into a more robust Management Information System (MIS), which will enhance government data handling and operations, ensuring increased transparency and smoother functioning.
Additionally, the committee will review and propose updates to the Secretariat Instructions of 2004 to improve governance. A central focus of the committee will be to strengthen transparency and accountability within government operations. This will involve addressing areas where inefficiencies have hindered decision-making and reducing bureaucratic delays.
The committee is expected to submit its report within a month, outlining its findings and recommendations for improving governance and performance in the federal government. These recommendations are expected to play a significant role in making the public sector more efficient, effective, and responsive.
