New diplomatic appointments approved by PM

PM to leave on Saudi visit today to attend Water Summit

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the appointments of several ambassadors and heads of Pakistani missions in various capitals of the world on the advice of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

Although no official announcement has been made, sources confirmed that the Prime Minister has approved these key changes. Rahim Hayat Qureshi will replace Amna Baloch as Pakistan’s new Ambassador to Brussels. 

Other major appointments include Syed Haider Shah as Ambassador to the Netherlands, Abdul Hameed Bhutta as Ambassador to Tokyo, and Najeeb Durrani as Ambassador to Ghana. Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry will take on the role of Ambassador to Indonesia, while Malik Farooq will represent Pakistan in South Africa.

Aqsa Nawaz and Tariq Karim will serve as Pakistan’s new ambassadors to African countries. Marghoob Saleem Butt will be posted as Ambassador to Berne, Asma Rabbani to the Philippines, and Aamir Shaukat to Egypt. Moazzam Shah has been appointed Ambassador to South Korea, while Adil Gillani will represent Pakistan in Morocco. Sheheryar Akbar will serve as Ambassador to the Czech Republic.

In terms of consular appointments, Zaman Mehdi will be Pakistan’s new Consul General in Chicago, Tanvir Bhatti in Chengdu, and Wajid Hashmi in Melbourne. Imtiaz Gondal has been appointed as the Consul General in Manchester.

These changes reflect Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its global diplomatic presence and maintain strong relationships with key nations. The reshuffle aims to enhance Pakistan’s diplomatic influence worldwide and ensure effective representation at critical international posts.
