Now apply for learner license online – quick & easy

Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has made it possible to get a learner driving permit within minutes through its online Driving License Information Management System (DLMIS).

Applicants can now submit their requests through the official portal at https://dlims.islamabadpolice.gov.pk/ and avoid long queues at licensing offices. The digital system allows applicants to complete the process at home, making the procedure faster and more convenient. To apply online, citizens must have their CNIC, a recent passport-size photo, and the required medical form. After paying the prescribed fee online, applicants can download their learner’s permit directly from their account once verification is complete.

For those who prefer in-person service, ITP license branches continue to offer walk-in and scheduled appointment facilities. Permits are issued on the spot after medical and eye tests. The police administration also publishes the fee schedule and requirements on its official platforms and has urged applicants to use only authentic portals to avoid third-party agents. Recently, Islamabad Police granted a one-week extension in the deadline for obtaining driving licenses, shifting it from October 1 to October 7.

Authorities have announced that from October 18, a strict crackdown will begin against those driving without valid licenses. Offenders will face legal action, including arrests and impoundment of vehicles. Officials also confirmed that individuals caught driving without a license will not be issued character certificates until they obtain one.

The initiative aims to make the licensing system more transparent, efficient, and accessible, while also improving road safety in the capital. With the option of both online and in-person applications, citizens now have multiple ways to ensure compliance with traffic laws.
