LAHORE – The caretaker government of Punjab has decided to increase the fares for the Orange Line Metro Train and Multan Metro Bus, the public transport projects facilitating large number citizens.
The fare for the Orange Line train has been increased by Rs5 by the government amid skyrocketing inflation in the country where people are struggling hard to meet the both ends.
Similarly, the fare for Multan Metro Bus has also been increased by Rs5 to generate additional revenue from the project.
The decision to increase the fares has been taken by the government keeping in view the rising petroleum prices in the country.
Reports said the Punjab Mass Transit Authority aimed at generating additional revenue of Rs 82.85 million by jacking up the fare.
However, the fares for the Lahore and Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro bus services will not be increase, the reports said.
