Pakistan and China launch Warrior-IX drills to strengthen counter-terror ties

The Pakistan Army and the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China commenced the joint military exercise Warrior-IX.

The newest round of the joint counter-terrorism exercise between Pakistan and China has officially begun, marking another step toward strengthening military cooperation. The latest edition opened on 1 December 2025 and aims to improve coordination in modern counter-terrorism operations. The activity focuses on boosting joint skills, sharing professional experience, and refining operational techniques that both forces can apply in real situations.

The exercise highlights the deep defence partnership between the two countries, which continues to grow through mutual trust, strategic cooperation, and a shared goal of regional stability. According to ISPR, senior officers from both sides attended the opening ceremony at the National Counter Terrorism Center in Pabbi. Those present included the Mangla Corps Commander and Major General Bian Xiaoming, who serves as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the People’s Liberation Army Western Theater Command. Their participation showed the importance both nations place on expanding collaboration in counter-terrorism and security operations.

The exercise, named Warrior-IX, once again demonstrates how Pakistan and China continue to strengthen their defence ties. It also reflects their joint resolve to counter emerging threats in the region through improved preparedness and coordinated training.

Furthermore, the Chinese Defence Ministry confirmed the start of the exercise a day earlier. It stated that troops from the People’s Liberation Army and the Pakistan Army would take part in the joint counter-terrorism drills being held in Pakistan. This renewed engagement reinforces the long-standing defence relationship and the commitment of both countries to work together for regional peace and enhanced security.
