Pakistan faces South Africa in WCL 2025 final today

The much-anticipated final of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 will see Pakistan Champions take on South Africa Champions at Edgbaston, Birmingham, on August 2, 2025.

Ahead of the big match, Pakistan’s star all-rounder Shahid Afridi confirmed he will not play due to medical advice. In a press conference held in Manchester, Afridi said doctors have told him to rest. He expressed disappointment, saying he had hoped to return if Pakistan had faced India in the semi-final.

Despite Afridi’s absence, Pakistan Champions have remained unbeaten in the tournament. They reached the final after India Champions refused to play the semi-final, resulting in Pakistan’s automatic qualification. Afridi mentioned that his heart wanted to play the final, especially against India, but his physical condition did not allow it. He had been hopeful of making a short comeback if the much-awaited semi-final had happened.

The WCL organizers confirmed India’s withdrawal from the semi-final in an official statement on Facebook, saying the match was called off as the India Champions refused to play.
