ALBANY – In a groundbreaking achievement, the Pakistan Pavilion clinched the prestigious ‘Best In-Show-International Tourism Development’ Award at the Travel and Adventure Show 2024.
The event was held in New York from January 27 to 28, boasting over 550 leading destinations and participants from nearly 190 countries, but the award solidified Pakistan’s position as a rising star in global tourism.
The inauguration of the Pakistan Pavilion was spearheaded by Masood Khan, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States; the pavilion was a collaborative effort involving key entities like the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Pakistan’s Consulate General in New York, and private sector companies.
A 60-member delegation, comprising representatives from PTDC, TDAP, and 24 private sector companies, actively represented Pakistan at the expo. The Pavilion not only showcased the country’s diverse tourism potential but also featured live performances by Pakistani artisans specializing in lacquer woodwork and traditional doll making, Express Tribune reported.
Building on the previous year’s success, the Pakistan Pavilion clinched the coveted “Best In-Show – International Tourism Development” award, a testament to the compelling presentation and enthusiasm of the Pakistani delegation.
State Minister for Tourism and PTDC Chairman, Wasi Shah, praised the team and stakeholders for their outstanding efforts, expressing optimism that the recognition would significantly contribute to attracting more foreign visitors.
The annual Travel & Adventure Show in New York continues to serve as an ideal platform, offering exposure to top international and domestic travel destinations, tour operators, cruise lines, and travel providers. This recognition solidified Pakistan’s position as a rising star in global tourism.
Beyond the glitz of the expo, Pakistan is located in South Asia, and boasts a population of over 231 million people. Major cities like Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore pulse with energy. The northern areas, particularly Gilgit-Baltistan, enchant with breathtaking landscapes, including the majestic Karakoram Range and Himalayan peaks. Historical sites such as Mohenjo-daro and cultural landmarks like the Badshahi Mosque add to Pakistan’s rich heritage, making it a must-visit destination for travelers worldwide.
