KARACHI: Pakistan Navy has deployed its top warship ‘PNS Tughril’ to the Gulf of Aden to ensure safety and security of merchant ships carrying shipments to and from Pakistani ports amid Middle East unrest.
In a statement, Naval spokesperson said Pakistan Navy is committed to ensure freedom of navigation on high seas and safety of international sea lanes of communication besides safeguarding national maritime interests and trade through seaIt said our naval forces are cognizant of its national obligation to maintain rule based order in the region.
Pakistan Navy remained a top force ensuring regional maritime security patrols besides contributing to collaborative maritime security efforts under the ambit of Combined Maritime Forces.
Pakistan Navy holds several warships, including modern frigates, corvettes, patrol vessels, submarines, and support ships. Some classes of Pakistan Navy included Zulfiquar-class frigates, Agosta-class submarines, and F-22P Zulfiquar-class frigates.
Meanwhile, PNS Tughril is a modern warship loaded with weapons and sensors those are capable of executing all dimensions of naval warfare simultaneously in a highly intense multi-threat environment.

The Chinese built warship is capable to fire vertical launch surface to air missile system, supersonic surface-to-surface missiles and fitted with 3D surveillance radar among other systems. Its state-of-the-art combat management and electronic warfare system make it frigate with top self-defence capabilities.
