Pakistan weather update: Three-day rainy spell begins today

A fresh system of westerly waves is expected to approach the nation on Saturday, bringing rainfall to northern regions, including Rawalpindi and Islamabad, from October 5 to 8.

This weather system is expected to bring with it a fresh round of rains to Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and the upper regions of Balochistan. The inhabitants of Sindh, however, will persist in enduring the hot and dry weather.

The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority has directed deputy commissioners and administrations around the province to stay vigilant and maintain workers and equipment prepared to remove precipitation.

People have been urged to avoid going near decaying structures while the situation is being watched closely around-the-clock.

A weather alert states that during the projected period, moderate to heavy rains may cause local nullahs/streams in Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kohistan, Chitral, GB, AJK, Dir, Swat, Mala Kand, Shangla, Bajaur, Mohmand, and Khyber to have more waterflow.

For the regions of Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Khushab, Mianwali, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh Chiniot, and Faisalabad on October 5, 7, and 8 are predicted by the Met Office to bring wind and thunderstorms along with isolated hailstorms.

From October 6 to 8, there are also forecasts for Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, and Bhakkar to have intermittent rainfall.

From October 5 to 7, there is also a forecast for sporadic rain in Mardan, Kurram, Orakzai, Kohat, Hangu, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Waziristan, and Dera Ismail Khan.

Over the weekend, there is a chance of rain, wind, and thunderstorms in Quetta, Zhob, Barkhan, Lasbella, Panjgur, and Awaran in Balochistan.
