Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has commended Pakistan Navy for its successful anti-narcotics operation in the North Arabian Sea.
The seized drugs, estimated to be worth around one million US dollars on the international market, were being transported via sea routes to global destinations. This operation underscores the Pakistan Navy’s ongoing commitment to curbing illegal activities within the country’s maritime boundaries as reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Meanwhile, the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) conducted seven operations across Pakistan, recovering over 149 kg of drugs worth more than Rs40 million and arresting four drug dealers. In one operation, 30 heroin-filled capsules were found in the stomach of a passenger traveling to Jeddah at Peshawar International Airport.
In another operation, ANF recovered 31 intoxicated tablets from a parcel near a park in Islamabad, leading to the arrest of a suspect. They also seized 150 grams of ice from a parcel destined for Australia at a courier office in Karachi.
Furthermore, 90 kg of opium and 10 kg of heroin were recovered from a hideout used for smuggling in Chagai district, Balochistan. Another operation in Pasni, Balochistan, led to the recovery of 45 kg of hashish. In Hyderabad, 3 kg of hashish was seized from a suspect, while 1 kg of heroin and 500 grams of ice were found on a motorcyclist near Iqbal Shaheed Toll Plaza in Attock.
The arrested individuals have been charged under the Narcotics Control Act, and investigations are ongoing. These operations highlight Pakistan’s continuous efforts to combat drug trafficking and enhance public safety.
