Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday presided over a meeting of the federal cabinet during which he approved a special fund for Palestine and Lebanon, which aims to provide aid to victims of Israeli brutality.
It also provided the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) with the necessary instructions to open an account in this respect. The PM Office Media Wing has released a news statement stating that Ahsan Iqbal, the Minister of Planning and Development, will be leading the relief efforts for Lebanon and Palestine.
Additionally, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom provided the cabinet with information regarding the establishment of e-offices in federal ministries and institutions.
At the conference, it was announced that Pakistan’s standing in the UN E-Governance Development Index had increased by 14 places as a result of the government’s efforts to implement e-governance.
The assembly was also informed that 40 federal government divisions were still in the process of deploying e-office, despite the fact that certain ministries had completely abandoned paper records.
The cabinet was advised to ratify the signing of an agreement designating Gwadar Port in Pakistan and Shanghai Port in China as sister ports by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs.
In addition, it approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on bilateral political consultations between the foreign affairs ministries of Pakistan and Rwanda, as recommended by the former.
The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on bilateral political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Ghana and Pakistan was also authorized by the federal cabinet, after the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ suggestion.
Decisions approved during the meeting were adopted by the Cabinet Committees on Legislative Matters on September 25, 2024, and Chinese Investment Projects on September 16, 2024.
The federal cabinet adopted the judgments that the cabinet committee on government-owned enterprises made on October 1.
