PM Shehbaz, World Liberty financial sign digital payments MoU

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met a delegation from World Liberty Financial USA, during which an MoU was signed to advance digital and cross-border payments in Pakistan.

A high-level delegation led by Zachary Witkoff, CEO of World Liberty Financial, met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad to discuss strengthening Pakistan’s digital financial ecosystem. Senior officials including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Defence Forces and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, SAPM Syed Tariq Fatemi, and Chairman of the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority Bilal Bin Saqib also attended the meeting.

The Prime Minister welcomed the delegation and highlighted his vision for Digital Pakistan, which focuses on improving connectivity, accessibility, transparency, and convenience for citizens. He stressed that digital payments and financial innovation are becoming key drivers of Pakistan’s rapidly expanding digital economy.

He expressed satisfaction over the increasing international interest in Pakistan’s digital finance landscape and noted that Pakistan is emerging as an active player in global digital financial networks.

During the meeting, Zachary Witkoff showed strong interest in partnering with Pakistan to enhance secure and transparent digital payment systems, especially for cross-border payments and foreign exchange operations. He praised Pakistan’s evolving policy framework, saying it positions the country as a promising contender in global digital finance.

In a major development, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Pakistan and SC Financial Technologies LLC, an affiliate of World Liberty Financial. The agreement aims to strengthen technical and policy cooperation to develop a modern cross-border digital payments system.
