Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to pay a daylong visit to Quetta today, Monday, to inquire after the security personnel who were injured during an anti-terror operation in Kalat a few days ago.
This visit follows recent security challenges in the region. The prime minister will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Power Minister Awais Leghari.
Last week, the country faced a tragic loss when 18 soldiers were martyred during counterterrorism operations in the Mangocher area of Balochistan. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that 11 militants were killed in Harnai district, and 12 more died in an overnight clash in Kalat district. The terrorists attempted to block roads in Kalat between January 31 and February 1, aiming to destabilize Balochistan and harm civilians.
In response, security forces quickly mobilized to neutralize the threat, killing 12 militants and preventing further harm to the local population. However, the operation resulted in the sacrifice of 18 security personnel, who lost their lives in the fight against terrorism.
The government has condemned these terrorist attacks, which were reportedly instigated by hostile forces trying to destabilize the region. The prime minister’s visit highlights the government’s determination to ensure the safety and security of Balochistan and honors the sacrifices made by the fallen soldiers.
