The Meteorological Department has forecasted cold and dry conditions across most regions of the country.
Meanwhile, moderate fog and smog are expected in the plains of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reducing visibility and causing potential travel disruptions. Additionally, light haze is likely in some parts of Islamabad, the Potohar region, Kashmir, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the morning hours. Residents in these areas are advised to take precautions while traveling and to avoid unnecessary early morning trips.
During the last 24 hours, most parts of the country experienced cold and dry weather, while mountainous regions faced extremely cold conditions. Some plain districts in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were covered by fog, affecting morning routines and road safety.
According to official records, Skardu recorded the lowest temperature at minus eight degrees Celsius. Other cold spots included Leh, Ziarat, and Kalat at minus seven degrees Celsius, while Quetta and Gilgit recorded minus five degrees Celsius. Authorities have urged citizens to take safety measures, especially in high-altitude areas, and advised travelers to check road conditions before heading out.
The Meteorological Department also reminded people to dress warmly and protect vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly from harsh cold. Foggy conditions in the plains may continue to affect road traffic, so drivers are encouraged to use fog lights and maintain safe distances. These warnings highlight the importance of staying alert during the winter season, as extreme cold and low visibility can increase the risk of accidents. Authorities are closely monitoring the weather and will provide updates to ensure public safety across the affected regions.
