he Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a severe heat alert across most parts of the country as temperatures continue to soar to dangerous levels.
According to the advisory, many areas will face extremely hot and dry weather, with temperatures expected to stay between 45 and 50 degrees Celsius during peak hours from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The current heatwave is likely to continue for several days, with no major rainfall expected in big cities. Punjab, including Lahore, is expected to remain dry and very hot. Islamabad and nearby regions will also continue to face intense heat.
Strong, dusty winds are expected in the plains of Punjab during the afternoon, which may make the weather even more uncomfortable. Sindh and Balochistan are also facing similar conditions. Most districts in these provinces, especially the plains of Balochistan, are expected to experience extremely high temperatures without any signs of relief.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the plains will remain hot, but upper areas like Chitral, Dir, and Swat may receive some light rain. However, this limited rainfall is not expected to reduce the overall heat in the region. Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir will also remain under dry and hot weather, with no major changes predicted in the coming days. The public is advised to stay hydrated, avoid going out in the sun during the hottest hours, and take special care of children, elderly people, and those with health issues. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and urge everyone to follow safety guidelines during this extreme weather period.
