PU students denied entry for wearing shorts under new rules

The University of Punjab has introduced a new dress code, prohibiting shorts and other unsuitable attire on campus.

According to the new directives, any student arriving in shorts will not be allowed to enter the university premises. The restriction applies not only at the entry gates but also across classrooms, departments, playgrounds, and even residential areas. The university administration has directed security guards stationed at all entrances to strictly enforce this rule. Guards have been instructed to deny entry to anyone wearing shorts and ensure that the dress code is followed without exception. Officials said the decision aims to maintain discipline and promote an environment that reflects the university’s academic values.

The new policy comes after repeated complaints regarding inappropriate dress on campus. The administration believes this move is necessary to prevent the casual clothing trend from spreading further among students. It also stressed that all individuals, including students and visitors, are required to follow the regulations. The university has made it clear that no leniency will be shown to violators of the dress code. Those failing to comply with the rules will face strict action, starting from denial of entry to being barred from classrooms and other facilities. The step marks one of the most serious dress code enforcement drives the institution has launched in recent years.

Students are already adjusting to the change, while some have expressed concerns about the strictness of the ban. However, the administration maintains that the decision is in the best interest of maintaining discipline and ensuring a respectful atmosphere on campus. With security personnel actively monitoring the rules, the university expects smooth implementation in the days ahead.
