The District Education Authority Mandi Bahauddin has issued a notification strictly banning corporal punishment and emotional abuse in schools. The authority warned that any violation will be treated as a serious breach of conduct and dealt with under the PEEDA Act 2006, with strict disciplinary action against offenders.
According to the circular, all heads of educational institutions must ensure a zero-tolerance policy towards corporal punishment. They have been instructed to train staff members to follow child-friendly and respectful teaching practices that create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment. The directive also requires school heads to immediately report any incident of abuse along with the corrective steps taken to address the matter.
Officials emphasized that failure to comply with these instructions will lead to disciplinary proceedings against responsible staff members. The education authority stressed its commitment to protecting students’ rights and building a safe learning atmosphere. It underlined that children should never face physical or emotional harm in classrooms, as such practices damage their confidence, well-being, and academic performance.
Authorities further highlighted that promoting respect and empathy in schools is essential to encourage positive behavior and improve the overall learning process. By enforcing this policy, the education department aims to strengthen trust between students, teachers, and parents, ensuring that schools remain safe spaces for growth and development.
