Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed that combing operations continue in sensitive areas of the province to ensure the law and order situation remains stable.
A high-level meeting led by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz brought several key decisions aimed at improving security, governance, and welfare across the province. During the meeting, officials gave detailed briefings on law and order, digital monitoring, and community-level reforms. After reviewing the updates, the chief minister issued a series of instructions to strengthen public safety and administrative control.
One of the major decisions was the introduction of new legislation to ensure strict action against anyone who damages Safe City cameras or other government property. Authorities were directed to use digital monitoring to track individuals listed in the Fourth Schedule and to continue uninterrupted operations against Afghan nationals residing in the province without legal documentation.
The meeting also approved an important welfare initiative for religious leaders. Maryam Nawaz gave the green light for the Punjab Chief Minister’s Honorarium Card for Imams and set February as the deadline for issuing the cards. She instructed that payments should start from January 1 through pay orders, while payments from February onward will be made through the new cards. She further directed that the registration of imams should continue without any delay.
Officials shared that more than 62,000 registration forms have been received so far, and verification is underway. It was also decided that any imam involved in activities against national interests or found guilty of moral or financial misconduct will have their honorarium stopped immediately.
To improve coordination, Mosque Management Committees and Tehsil Management Committees are being set up across Punjab. Maryam Nawaz also ordered Assistant Commissioners to hold monthly meetings with imams to ensure better communication and oversight as the new system moves forward.
