Punjab govt sets up helplines for flood-affected areas

In view of the recent flood situation in Punjab, the district administration has issued emergency contact numbers for the convenience of the public.

Punjab continues to face a severe flood situation as the death toll has reached 30, confirmed Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb. The calamity has affected around 1.5 million people, forcing more than 481000 to move to safer locations. Floodwaters have damaged 2038 villages across the province. Among them, 1169 were hit by the Chenab River, 462 by the Ravi, and 391 by the Sutlej. The government has set up 511 relief camps and 351 medical camps that are working day and night to provide shelter, food, and healthcare to the displaced. So far, 6373 victims are living in relief camps.

At the same time, authorities are making efforts to protect livestock. Over 405000 cattle have been shifted to safer areas, while 321 veterinary camps are operating to ensure proper care and treatment of animals. Rescue operations remain in full swing with 808 boats deployed. In just thirty-six hours, 68477 people have been rescued from flooded regions. The administration assured that relief activities would not stop until every affected family receives help. Citizens are urged to remain alert and contact officials immediately in case of emergencies during the flood.
