Punjab govt sets wheat procurement rate at Rs 3500

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered the immediate start of wheat procurement at a fixed rate of Rs3500 per maund and announced free gunny bags worth Rs6 billion for farmers across the province.

The Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, conducts an important meeting and starts the process of wheat procurement immediately. Registered farmers harvest 10 free gunny bags per acre directly at centres. She gives utmost priority to the Kissan Card holders.

They retail at Rs3500 per maund and payment is made in accounts within a 72-hour period. New provincial and divisional teams watch keenly for total equity. The plan is held in high regard by farmers 88 percent of farmers support government farm activities.
