The Punjab Land Records Authority has introduced a new rule to make property transactions across the province more transparent and secure.
Under the updated regulations, buyers must have their name and CNIC clearly mentioned on the Fard Baraye Bay, a key legal document used for property sales and transfers. Officials said the change will ensure that every Fard Baraye Bay is directly linked to the intended buyer from the start of the transaction. Recording buyer information at the initial stage will help prevent duplication, forgery, and misuse of property documents, which were common under the previous system.
With CNIC-linked verification, a secure digital trail will now exist for every property transfer. Authorities believe this step will protect both buyers and sellers while boosting investor confidence in Punjab’s real estate market. Officials added that the reform will reduce reliance on manual paperwork and limit the influence of traditional patwari-based processes, long criticized for lack of transparency.
Citizens can now verify Fard Baraye Bay documents online through the Punjab Land Records Portal, allowing them to check authenticity without visiting land offices. The Punjab government said the reform is part of a wider agenda to modernize land administration and protect citizens from financial losses linked to property fraud. Fard Baraye Bay serves as proof of land ownership and confirms that a property is free from disputes and eligible for sale.
