Punjab issues over one lakh driving licenses in 10 days

Punjab Traffic Police speeds up driving license issuance across the province.

DIG Traffic Punjab’s teams are instructed to attend to all kinds of vehicles swiftly, without allowing any illegal driving on the busy roads. Citizens can now drive legally with the easy availability of learner, regular and international permits. Police have issued more than 196,000 driving licences in the province in just 10 days.

Thousands of people renewed their permits seamlessly and many received brand new permits. They ensure safer roads for all travellers and a quicker service. Over 68000 citizens got a learner’s license, statistics show. Almost the same number obtained regular driving licences to use the roads legally. The numbers are a result of the positive response from the public on the improved licensing facilities.

More than 57000 licences, learning permits and international driving licenses were renewed. Police also issued replacement licenses to over 450 citizens who had been in the position of having a license lost before, and who were very happy about it. Traffic authorities issued over 850 international driving permits to travelers and expatriates.

Additionally, more than 37,000 smart citizens used the convenient online licensing system from home. Digital services save time and reduce office crowds significantly. The licensing campaign is a successful way to encourage people to drive safely. Legal drivers obey the rules of the road more effectively, thus minimizing accidents due to unauthorized drivers.

Families are more content when they know that more qualified individuals are driving responsibly. Motorcycle riders, car owners, and commercial drivers benefit most. New learners build confidence with appropriate training and experienced drivers get refreshed. International permits enable Pakistanis to drive legally anywhere in the world.
