Punjab government has rolled out Mera Punjab Smog Free program to empower recent graduates to engage in community service.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz pushed for all out efforts to permanently curb smog and invited graduates who completed their degrees within the last two years to apply. Interns will receive a monthly stipend of Rs25,000 while participating in community service and environmental protection initiatives under the Smog-Free Punjab Initiative.

Registration for the internship program is open until July 20, 2024, for individuals aged 18 to 25. After completion, participants will receive a ‘Community Service Certificate.’
With the latest initiative, Punjab Chief Minister also urged public to help government in fight against smog by encouraging tree planting, cutting reducing emissions.
Punjab Smog Challenge
Problem in Punjab smog challenge stems from industrial emissions, vehicular pollution, and crop burning, exacerbated by weather conditions trapping pollutants.
Experts called for smart solutions like stern rules, public awareness, cleaner technologies, crop management changes, and air quality monitoring to mitigate health and environmental impacts.
