Ramadan nighaban package worth Rs47bn approved in Punjab

The Punjab government has approved a Rs47 billion Ramazan relief package, finalizing a comprehensive set of measures to support low-income families during the holy month.

The decision was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, focusing on ensuring food security and financial assistance for deserving citizens. During the meeting, the government approved the CM Ration Card program, Nighaban Dastarkhwan, and Sahulat Bazaar initiatives to provide affordable food items and direct cash support. These measures aim to reduce financial pressure on families facing rising living costs during Ramadan.

Under the revised plan, ration card holders across Punjab will now receive Rs10000 during Ramadan, an increase from the previous amount of Rs3000. This significant increase is intended to help families better manage essential household expenses, including food and basic necessities. Moreover, the government announced that 4.2 million deserving families will receive Rs10000 each under the Ramadan relief program. This step is expected to benefit millions of people and provide timely support during the holy month.

Speaking at the meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasized the government’s commitment to standing with low-income households. She stated that no deserving family should feel alone during Ramadan and assured that the provincial government will support vulnerable citizens during times of need.

Furthermore, officials confirmed that all relevant departments have been directed to ensure smooth implementation of these programs. Special monitoring arrangements will be put in place to guarantee transparency and timely delivery of assistance. Overall, the Ramadan relief package reflects the Punjab government’s efforts to provide meaningful support, promote social welfare, and help families observe the holy month with dignity, peace of mind, and improved access to essential resources.
