The 1st day of Zil Hajj will be observed on Monday, 18 May 2026, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced a short while ago.
Pakistan will observe Eid ul Azha on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, after the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee confirmed the start of Zil Hajj. The committee based its decision on scientific calculations and physical moon-sighting reports, following standard practice. Consequently, the Day of Arafah will fall on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, one day before Eid.
Officials said the committee weighed astronomical data and on-the-ground sightings to reach the final ruling. Therefore, federal and provincial authorities will now issue formal holiday schedules and public notices. Traditionally, government offices observe Eid holidays beginning the day before Eid, so many public and private employees can expect time off starting Tuesday and continuing for several days, depending on official announcements.
Moreover, religious bodies and local sighting groups advised communities to follow Ruet-e-Hilal announcements for confirmed dates and prayer timetables. Mosques and imams will provide guidance on Eid prayers and arrangements for communal worship. At the same time, authorities urged citizens to complete sacrificial arrangements responsibly, to follow health and safety measures, and to coordinate with local administrations for animal handling and waste management.
