Saudi Arabia and Pakistan ink strategic defense pact

Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif signed a joint strategic defense agreement in Riyadh on Wednesday, Saudi Press Agency reported.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have signed a major defense agreement aimed at boosting security cooperation and ensuring peace in the region. The agreement states that any aggression against one country will be considered an attack on both, strengthening their joint deterrence strategy. Officials said the pact reflects the shared commitment of the two nations to work together for regional and global stability. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Riyadh on Wednesday for a state visit, accompanied by a high-level delegation. Upon his arrival, he was given an official reception before holding a round of talks with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

During the meeting, both leaders reviewed the historic and strategic partnership between their countries. They also discussed issues of mutual interest, including regional security and cooperation in defense and other sectors. Sharif expressed gratitude to the crown prince for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to him and his delegation. He also conveyed greetings and best wishes for King Salman, while appreciating the strong ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

According to officials, the visit is expected to open new avenues of cooperation and further deepen the already close relationship between the two nations. Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share decades of strong political, economic, and cultural ties, and this agreement marks another important step in strengthening their partnership. The prime minister also extended his best regards to the Saudi leadership and people, wishing them continued progress and prosperity. Both sides reaffirmed their resolve to work closely in multiple fields, particularly defense, to safeguard mutual interests and promote lasting peace in the region.
