School holiday announced in Karachi tomorrow amid heavy rain forecast

Schools in Pakistan’s financial hub Karachi will remain closed on Friday August 29, 2024 as strong weather system enters the southeastern region and will bring heavy rainfall.

Karachi Commissioner announced that all public and private schools in Karachi will be closed tomorrow due to a forecast of heavy rain.

The announcement was made late on Thursday after meeting of PMD officials and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA). The Port city of Karachi continues to remain under threat of heavy rains as downpours are expected to hit the city in the coming hours.

PMD said a strong monsoon system near Tharparkar and India’s Rann of Kutch may reach Karachi, Hyderabad, and other districts, bringing torrential rains and thunderstorms.

With new weather conditions, there will be intermittent rain across various parts of Sindh, including Karachi, until August 31, accompanied by strong winds, thunderstorms, and heavy downpours in some areas.
