Police and security forces eliminated 34 terrorists in separate operations in South Waziristan and Kohat, marking the highest single-day militant casualties in recent months.
According to ISPR, troops effectively targeted the militants’ hideout, preventing any retaliation or escape. A clearance operation is ongoing to eliminate any remaining threats. In another incident, police in Kohat shot down four terrorists during an exchange of fire near the Shadipur check-post by the Indus River. One police officer sustained injuries and was shifted to DHQ hospital.
The confrontation began when police flagged a suspicious vehicle on the Kohat-Nizampur road. As soon as it stopped, six gunmen opened fire. Police retaliated, killing one terrorist, identified as Siraj from Nowshera, while others fled under heavy fire.
A clearance operation, led by District Police Officer Zahidullah Khan, resulted in the killing of three more attackers. Police from Nowshera also launched a search for the remaining suspects.
Security personnel recovered three hand grenades, seven Kalashnikovs, and hundreds of cartridges from the terrorists. The operations reflect Pakistan’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and ensuring national security.
