A Metro bus met with an accident near Azadi Chowk on Monday after it crashed into the fence along the designated track, according to Metro Bus Authority officials.
According to the Punjab Mass Transit Authority, all passengers on board were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported. Officials confirmed that the quick response of the staff helped prevent any harm. Soon after the incident, emergency teams arrived at the site to secure the area and check the damage caused to the bus and track. Their immediate assessment focused on ensuring that there was no structural risk that could endanger commuters or staff.
In addition, metro bus officials announced that the Azadi Chowk section has been closed for the time being. As a result, the service between MAO College and Shahdara has been suspended until the track is cleared and declared safe for operations. The closure is expected to cause inconvenience for daily passengers, especially those traveling to and from the northern parts of Lahore.
Moreover, authorities are reviewing the circumstances that led to the accident. They are also evaluating the bus involved and the affected portion of the track to determine the extent of repairs needed. The teams on ground are working to restore the service as soon as possible while keeping commuter safety as the top priority. The incident has highlighted the need for consistent maintenance and monitoring of the metro bus system to prevent disruptions. Officials assured that updates will be shared with the public once repair work progresses and the route becomes operational again.
