The government is preparing to launch a Child Protection Policy designed to prevent violations of children’s rights through joint efforts among various provincial departments.
This policy is aimed at addressing serious issues affecting children, such as child trafficking, child marriage, child labor, child separation, alternative care, and the involvement of children in armed conflicts. The Sindh Child Protection Authority (SCPA) will be responsible for carrying out the policy, with support from different government departments. A Child Protection Technical Working Group will also be formed to help all departments work together and implement the policy smoothly.
According to the draft policy, the Social Welfare Department will register and monitor all orphanages. It will also forward details of children living in these orphanages to NADRA for proper registration. The College Education Department, Universities, and Boards will include subjects related to child rights and child protection in their courses to raise awareness among students.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) will work closely with the police, SCPA, and the Social Welfare Department to help recover children who criminal gangs have used. Officials say that this policy is a crucial step toward protecting children’s rights and ensuring their safety and well-being throughout Sindh. The government aims to create a stronger system where children can be protected from abuse, exploitation, and neglect.
