Speeding bus claims biker’s life in Karachi

A motorcyclist lost his life after a speeding bus hit and ran over him near Pukhtoonabad in Karachi’s Manghopir area on Sunday.

Several deadly road accidents claimed at least five lives and left two people injured in different parts of Karachi on Sunday, rescue officials confirmed. In one incident near Manghopir’s Pukhtoonabad area, a motorcyclist was critically injured after being hit by a speeding bus. Police said the victim was shifted to a nearby hospital but could not survive. The bus driver fled the scene after the accident but was later arrested. Authorities also seized the vehicle.

Other fatal accidents were reported in Korangi, Shah Faisal Colony, Landhi, and near Radio Pakistan. One of the victims was a woman, and several others suffered injuries of varying degrees. Rescue teams responded quickly to each location and shifted the injured and deceased to different hospitals in the city. Most of the accidents were caused by rash driving and poor road safety.

According to official data, road accidents have caused 536 deaths and injured over 6000 people in Karachi so far in 2025. The numbers continue to rise despite repeated warnings and awareness campaigns about traffic laws. Police and traffic authorities are urging the public to follow road safety rules and avoid reckless driving. They have also increased monitoring on major roads and are taking strict action against those violating traffic laws.

Officials emphasized the need for better traffic management, especially in high-risk areas, to reduce such incidents. They also called for more awareness among drivers and pedestrians to help prevent further loss of life.
