TikTok has taken massive action against accounts and videos for violating local community standards and guidelines.
In its latest transparency report, the popular video sharing app says it has actively collaborated with the Pakistan Telecommunication Agency (PTA) for the past six months.
Per the report, the Pakistani government forwarded more than 300 requests to TikTok seeking the removal of “inappropriate” or “sensitive content” between July and December 2023. The app complied by removing 93.5% of reported content.
“According to the ‘Government Removal Request Report’ on TikTok’s website, a total of 12,392 pieces of content were taken down due to violations of community guidelines, while 2,126 pieces were removed for breaching local laws. Additionally, TikTok deactivated 270 accounts for violating community guidelines and 59 accounts for violating local laws during this period,” reported a national daily.
