A delegation led by Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf arrived in Islamabad early Saturday ahead of high-level negotiations with the United States aimed at ending the Middle East conflict, following a two-week truce brokered by Pakistan.
These crucial conferences are taking place under a two-week cease-fire (temporary pause in fighting), which began with the US and Israel attacking Iran on February 28. The war clouds have parted courtesy of the powerful plea of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif this week.
Now, serious negotiations unfold on Saturday, with a view to actual peace. Iran also dispatches a powerful delegation headed by the Speaker of Parliament Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf. The most important members are the foreign minister, Abbas Araqchi, the secretary of the defense council the governor of the central bank and other legislators.
They are welcomed in Islamabad by high-level leaders in Pakistan. They are first welcomed by Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and then they are accompanied by Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
The Foreign Office is no exception to the buzz Pakistan remains determined to assist the two parties in achieving permanent peace (no more conflicts, reliable solutions). Deputy PM Dar wishes to have open and positive conversations that foster trust.
It will be a giant leap in eliminating heat regional (less anger, more teamwork). Pakistan is once again a peace bridge (a neutral host between opponents). Hopefully, when negotiations are successful, the oil flow is expected to be calmer, the price of fuel will be lower at home, and the seas will be safer. The world is on its toes–will this be the start of a complete cessation of war? Reports flood in as groups of delegates confer.
